A BlueTooth keyboard can be bought for the iPad.

Galaxy Tab 10.1 vs Apple iPad 2

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the lightest (1.25 lbs) of the big-screen tablets and is the thinnest (0.336 inches) overall. Like with the iPad, however, thinness comes at the expense of SD, USB, and HDMI ports: Tab and iPad have none. Choose the Galaxy Tab over iPad if you love its light weight and thinness but want an Android tablet rather than an iOS (iPad) tablet. Choose the Tab 10.1 if you (a) prefer its 1280x800 TFT display more than iPad 2's 1024x768 IPS display; (b) want a better rear camera (3 MP) than iPad 2's lousy 0.7 MP camera; (c) believe in Android's more open approach to app development and acquisition; or (d) want Flash, which does not work on iPad 2.

Otherwise, go with the IPad 2, which has a higher degree of fit-and-finish than its competition. Like iPhones vs other smart phones, iPods vs other MP3 players, or Macs vs PC's, iPads are widely regarded as being more refined and polished than other tablets. IPad also has a large and refined App Store (although Android Market is closing the gap).

Richard asks…

Ipad 2 vs galaxy tab?

I have apple products in my house, so this is sorta compliments the whole thing but I really like the interface of the android and the fact that it can play flash and fully customizeable means a lot.

Ipad 2 is nice but you are right the Droids are making it look very limited in it's scope of capabilities. I guess this would come down to personal choice of what you intend to use it for as to which product you go with.

John asks…

Galaxy Tab vs. Apple ipad 2, which one should i get?

hey guys which one do you think i should get?

Apple iPad 2 boasts of being faster, lighter and thinner than the original iPad. It is armed with two cameras - one at front and the other one at rear. The presence of a front camera does hint at video calling facility which is yet another reason why you need to look forward to buy this device. The new iPad sports a LED-backlit glossy widescreen Multi-Touch display with IPS technology and fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating like the one used in iPhone 4. Even though there were some rumors about Apple iPad 2 screen being cut down to 7 inches, the company seems to have preferred to stick to 9.7 inch screen.

Linda asks…

Galaxy Tab 10.1 vs iPad 2?

I wanted an iPad 2 (refer to iPad 1 vs iPad 2) but doing some research I came across the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and it seems like you get more for your money with the Galaxy Tab. Is that true? And also how do you set it up can you do it wirelessly not setting it up to your computer. Any comparisons and personal experiences would be helpful. I have a 4th generation iPod touch so I was wondering if the Galaxy Tab 10.1 would be good because it would be different than my current OS or stick with Apple's OS. I also like how the Galaxy Tab supports flash websites and I've heard it has apps pre loaded that are like office. It seems like a netbook. Is that true?

I have the original iPad as well as a Motorola Xoom, which runs Android 3, just like the Samsung. To be honest, while Android OS has some advantages over iOS, Android has a lot fewer apps and the apps it has tend to be lower quality - several have crashed or refused to work after one or two uses. The OS itself is much less intuitive and it's hard to find info on how to use it. I've found working with Android to be highly frustrating, and I have 20 years of experience working in tech support. The biggest advantage of Android is that you don't have to sync via your PC. You can copy files to the device and open them with any app that can read them. But finding a decent app to do lots of things is a challenge.

Frankly, I'm planning to give the Xoom to a family member for Christmas and buy a newer iPad.
