Daniel asks…
can you use the ipad 2 as a phone?
admin answers:
Yes with headphones that have a built in mic, and a voip app.
Talkatone is free and allows you to incorporate google voice.
I also use talk sms which is a sip provider and will furnish you with a number just make sure you have wifi available.

IPad 2 and wifi? Help please!! Very frustrated.?
My iPad works just fine on my wifi at home but I'm having trouble at school. It worked for the first couple of weeks that I had it but now it doesn't. To access our Internet at school a thing on safari pops up and you have to sign in with your username and password. Well i do that and it only let's me use the school webpage now. It still says iPad in the top corner instead of the wifi signal thing. However, if I try is on my iPhone 4 it works just fine and I can fully access the Internet on wifi. I know it's on the wifi because the signal thing shows up on place of 3G. It shows I have a full signal. I checked and I'm pretty sure all my settings are the same on my iPad as my phone. Any idea why it's not working on my iPad?

Are you at a university? If so, go on your school's website and search for the IT department. There may be some change in the settings for ipads to get on.

Do I really need an iPad?
I have a 8g 2nd gen iPod touch. I take it to school everyday and listen to music to and from school on the bus. I love watching YouTube videos and surfing the web on my iPod. I use an online math book and I found out I can use it on my iPod so I could use it on my iPad. I use my iPod as a phone. I am always an facebook too. I don't want the second gen, just a first, but do I really need one?
admin answers:

Can I use the iPhone 4's new software to...?
I want an iPad 2 but I only have the money for a wifi version. With the iphone's new software update, can I use it's 3G to make my iPad a 3G as well?
In my 'three' contact, it said I wasn't allowed to use my Phone as a modem but would this technique still be legal and would it work?
admin answers:
You can't turn the iPad into a 3G device without another device.
What you can do though, is set up Personal Hotspot on your iPhone - it's like a mobile Wireless router and gets it's internet from the 3G phone signal. If you've updated to the current iPhone software, go to Settings > Personal Hotspot.
But, you may have to have a special plan with 3 for this to work. Otherwise, it'll charge you loads.
If you don't want this, remember, there are a lot of WiFi hotspots around which you can connect your iPad too - there are now outdoor ones, and plenty in McDonalds/Starbucks/Train stations.
