Questions About Ipad 2 To Tv Wireless

Ken asks…

what a good router that can go into bridge mode?

im looking for a router that i can hook my tv, blu-ray, and xbox to and wireless send data to my man router connected to the internet 75 feet away. whats a good router for this? also if its in bridge mode can i still connect my ipad to it wireless? the main router is a linksys wrtu54g-tm and i need a 2nd as a bridge. any ideas?

admin answers:

Linksys wrt54-gs or gl, any router that can run firmware like tomato or openwrt will do bridging very well. You have to watch out sometimes because there are several revisions of the same modem number and one will work and another will not.

You can connect the ipad to the primary wireless router, but the bridging router will not also provide an access point. There are Cisco routers that can do both at once, but you're looking at 5x the cost.

What exactly is a internet capable tv?

My screen on my laptop went to I was thinking of just getting a monitor well I keep coming across these internet capable tvs...but finding conflicting information.

I figured maybe I can get one of these-I have wifi at my house. I do need a TV so if I just got one of these I can surf the net and watch tv a sort of kill 2 birds with one stone, then I will just get a netbook or ipad for when I am traveling.

So if I get one of these TV's do I just need like a wireless keyboard and mouse then? Or do I have this wrong-I owuld be looking on going on sites like facebook, youtube, etc-would also be lookign to watch my dvds etc

Network access to music library, power wired speakers and contol via ipad/iphone?

So I bought a house that has wired speakers throughout the home. The wires all go to the pantry. I will be using the speakers in the house as they are built into the ceiling and mounted outside. I've seen wireless systems you can buy but I am not starting from scratch and I WILL NOT BE DOING THAT.. I've looked into some receivers that can power the speakers and get on the wireless network. A few of the companies have ipad/iphone apps that you can access for controlling the receiver and zones etc... My problem is the receiver will simply be sitting in a pantry. I won't be using it for TV, movies etc... Seems like a bit of a waste of money for a home theatre system when I wil hardly use any of the features. It's strictly for audio throughout the house.

I need something that can 1. power my speakers (need to be able to hook in speakers), 2. access my wireless network 3. control my music on my computer or Iphone/Ipad. Any ideas on how I can do this without spending over $400+?

Again I don't want to by the wireless speaker system and hubs out there - I will be using existing speakers that are hardwired. The networked receiver is the only solution I have found that gives me a controller via my phone etc... any other ideas that do all 3 things I listed above and isn't over $400? Anyone bought a new receiver that is networked and has an app controller - if so, any good? Thanks!

admin answers:

You will end up w/ 2 pieces of wequipment based on your desire ot do what you want to do.
You need a powered amp/switch for ht espeakers nad the sifi/head unit for the home theater ammd ipod.
And no, you won be able to do this under $400, as a good head unit is gonna be that much and a good mjlti speaker switch/amp is gonna be at least $200.

Hey hey hey!
Do you really expect people to tell you to upgrade your desktop without knowing your current config? How can I say what your laptop has got?

Also, iPad(tablets in particular) are much different from Laptops and Desktops. You can't compare a beast that sits on a 5 feet table with a 7inch tablet, can you??
